I enjoy telling the stories of people and organizations of faith and commitment. I hope you will ask me to tell yours.
– Lee Ann Walling

Lee Ann Walling has finally decided what she wants to be when she grows up: a digital evangelist helping faith-based and non-profit organizations tell their stories.

Lee Ann, right, harvesting lettuce at the church community garden she organized.

She started out as a journalist, entering the University of Texas at Austin the month Nixon resigned because of Watergate.  (Yep, she’s pretty old.) After 13 years in broadcast and print media, she took a leap of faith (one of those kairos moments) to manage the campaign of a female state senator who was running for lieutenant governor.  The politician, Ruth Ann Minner, later became Governor of Delaware and served two terms.  During the governor’s tenure, Lee Ann became interested in sustainable growth and land-use issues and morphed into a professional planner.  Another kairos experience. She went to work for the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control as an environmental and land-use planner, earning her American Institute of Certified Planners and LEED Accredited Professional credentials.

She retired from that phase of her life in June 2013 to pursue her passions of digital evangelism and sustainable planning.

She also has developed a number of presentations in PowerPoint and Keynote in combination with graphic design and video that go well beyond the usual hail of bullets.

Lee Ann fell into web design, graphic design and videography as a ministry at her church in Dover, Delaware.  Yet another kairos moment.  She came back from an Episcopal conference impressed by the use of multi-media to tell faith stories and bought a video camera. She thought the church website needed up be updated and overhauled, but she didn’t know HTML from CSS.  So she took a 12-week fundamentals course in Wilmington, 75 miles from home, and built a new website from scratch.  It launched in August 2009 and was overhauled on a WordPress platform in 2012. She produced upwards of 30 videos for special services and a string of stewardship campaigns and researched and produced a series of short videos for another church’s commemoration of the 10-year anniversary of 9-11.

In 2012, she earned certificates in graphic design and web design from the Delaware College of Art and Design in Wilmington, Delaware.  Lee Ann also has an MBA from the University of Delaware.

She enjoys running, kayaking, cycling and photographing nature and birds.  She is also a chronic learner. Download or view the digital version of her resume. She also writes a blog, up cedar creek.
